Current Opportunities

Senior Software Developer

MicroWest Software is looking for a Senior Software Developer to participate in the development of our AMMS WEB database application for Microsoft SQL and Oracle databases.

This is a full time position and successful applicant will be required to work in-house at our Mission Valley location as the position requires interaction with others in the office every day. Must be a Team Player, able to shift focus and priorities based on changing business needs, who can work with both other developers and sales personnel. Working with large, Fortune 500 companies who make up our customer database will require applicant to possess excellent English communication skills.

MicroWest Software is a 33 year old software and services company in San Diego providing commercial Microsoft-based Web, Windows and PDA database applications. Our AMMS Advanced Maintenance Management System is a well-respected, commercial off the shelf program widely used throughout the US and abroad by serious maintenance and inventory management professionals.

Job Description/Requirements:

  • Designs and Develops new features for Web-based database application using .NET and C/C++ tools
  • Participates in customer meetings relating to software project requirements
  • Provides development time estimates to management to provide fixed quotes to customers
  • Creates project documentation to include functional and technical specifications
  • Takes technical lead on managing such projects and sees them through to completion
  • Maintains/Troubleshoots existing Web-based database application using above technologies
  • Troubleshoots complex software problems and environments / Provides 2nd level technical support
  • Monitors changes/updates in tools and technologies; recommends and implements as necessary

Desired Qualities:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in web based ASP.NET application development
  • 3+ years of C and/or C++
  • 3+ years of VB.NET and/or C#
  • In-depth working knowledge of HTML / JavaScript / CSS / XML is essential
  • Comfortable writing moderately complex SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Experience writing requirements documents, functional specifications
  • Ability to take charge of a project and see it through from beginning to end
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and deadlines
  • Willingness to take on tasks outside of core responsibilities as required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Responsible and flexible
  • Aptitude for User Interface design, graphical design

Technical Support

A great attitude and excellent verbal and written skills are required to assist our loyal customer base primarily by phone and email. Must be an honest, reliable, Microsoft/PC-Literate person with good problem solving ability. Should be friendly and courteous, motivated and have a neat and clean appearance. Must be a team player that can actually put the team first on occasion.

Tasks include becoming an expert in our software for the PC, as well as on PDAs running Windows Mobile and Palm, and related Barcode hardware, MS Windows operating systems and MS SQL Server, Oracle and Pervasive databases. The job requires detailed documentation of all contact with our Users and written feedback from testing new software releases via our company database. Job responsibilities should grow to include in-house training and later on-site training at customer facilities.
